Թինա Բաստաջյանը մրցանակակիր ֆիլմ/մեդիա արվեստագետ և հետազոտող է: Ծնվել է Լոս Անջելեսում և այժմ բնակվում ու աշխատում է Ամստերդամում: Նրա վերջին տարիների աշխատանքները ներառում են փորձարարական մոտեցումներ պատմողական և վավերագրական ոճերում: Բաստաջյանի աշխատանքները ցուցադրվել են բազմաթիվ փառատոններում, գալերիներում, գիտաժողովներում և թանգարաններում, ներառյալ Մոնրեալի բանավոր պատմության և թվային պատմասացության կենտրոնում, Սան Ֆրանցիսկոյի միջազգային ֆիլմերի փառատոնում, Նյու Յորքի ՍինեմաԻսթում, Ստամբուլի էլեկտրոնային արվեստի միջազգային գիտաժողովում, Փարիզի Պոմպիդու կենտրոնում, Հավանայի բիենալեում և այլուր: Բաստաջյանը երեք շաբաթով հրավիրված է Թումո ստեղծարար տեխնոլոգիաների կենտրոն վարելու տեղային և բջջային պատմասացությանը նվիրված աշխատանոց:

Tina Bastajian is a Los Angeles born and Amsterdam based film/media artist, essayist and researcher who has exhibited internationally. Her work has been shown at festivals, galleries, symposia and museums, including The Center for Oral History and Digital Storytelling, Montreal; Holland Festival/De Balie, Amsterdam; San Francisco International Film Festival; CinemaEast NYC; ISEA - International Symposium on Electronic Art, Istanbul; First Person Films III, Bristol Docs; Micronomics Festival, Brussels; The Pompidou Centre, Paris; Havana Biennial, Cuba; IDFA - International Documentary Festival Amsterdam; The Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley; and De Filmhuis in The Hague.

Her research explores expanded modes of cinema in praxis and theory—from their historical movements to potential cinematic tendencies evoked in mobile and locative media practices. These are illustrated in both her interactive documentary Coffee Deposits:::Topologies of Chance and also PERA pARkours its iteration in the form of an augmented reality tour. The (de)tour uses what Bastajian calls locational “post-scripts” which are located within a small radius of Istanbul’s Pera/Galata district via mobile phones.

Intrinsic to her single-channel work within experimental and diasporan film are themes of the fragment, interstitiality, erasure and translation. Currently she is a lecturer at Amsterdam University College and Webster University-Leiden, and also a guest tutor at Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam where she recently co-led the thematic project “Short-circuiting the Archive” with curator/researcher Annet Dekker. Forthcoming is her essay “In, Around and About Filmadaran: In No Particular Order” to be published in the illustrated volume Archives in Visual Art and Theory: Estonia and Beyond-Estonian Academy of Arts. She is presently teaching a workshop at the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies on location-based and mobile storytelling.
